Chagas disease is one of the four leading causes of death from parasitic diseases, although it is a widely known disease. In the mid-2020s, a municipality in Bahia is portrayed as a place with potential risk of occurrences of Chagas disease. Several factors that favor the occurrence of Chagas disease are found in the municipality, among them: presence of Trypanosoma cruzi, presence of the vector, houses with vegetation cover around and accumulation of debris, and the presence of various domestic and wild animals.
