Professor Dr. Santanu Kumar Acharya, M.Sc. (Chemistry), Litt .D (Hon), is a leading National level Academy Prize winning senior Indian writer. He won Sahitya Academy (National Academy of Literature) Award for his Short Story book, " Chalanti Thakura" (The Sentient God) in the year 1993. He was also awarded Odisha State Sahitya Academy Award for his trend setting metaphysical novel, Nara Kinnara Man and Subhuman), in the year 1962 and the State Level most prestigious Sarala Puraskar (Literary) for his Novel Shakuntala, in 1987. Besides, he has been awarded National Literary Prizes for Children's Literature many times. Acharya was a college teacher and senior administrative officer of education, who served the Government of Odisha for more than thirty years. He has written sixteen novels, about four hundred short stories collected in twenty-one short story books, and twelve numbers of books for Children and many more essays and feature books.
