Although the term holistic care is commonly used, it is often misunderstood. This book explains its history, definition, prevalence, significance to nursing, challenges, opportunities, and how it relates to Jean Watson's Caring Theory. This book argues that there are many challenges to the delivery of holistic care, and that there is an extreme lack of education and research in this area.

Deanna Lynn Schultz acquired her Master of Arts in Nursing Education at the Bethel University, in the United States of America. She is now working as an RN Nurse Educator at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. She previously worked as an RN for the State of Minnesota and at the North Memorial Medical Center. Her research interests span across holistic nursing care, integrative therapies, and Post-traumatic stress disorder.
