This study sought to identify the issues and challenges facing secondary school libraries in Katlehong. Very few schools in South Africa have a functional school libraries, and those that do have one have to maintain it through their own funds and budget. The study clustered 14 specific schools in Katlehong, teacher librarians, principals, learners, teachers (Focus Group Discussion) and Department of Education Official to participate in the study. Results revealed that school libraries in Katlehong face challenges that includes lack of staff, outdated and inadequate collection, poorly organized books, lack of funds and absence of guidelines and leadership from the Department of Education.
