This book discusses the main challenges in the training of teachers for the Accountancy course. The aspects covered are discussed on the basis of the literature in the field, in order to provide an in-depth study of the subject. The book emphasises the need for better pedagogical preparation for Accounting professionals who work in teaching and that this preparation needs to be different from that traditionally present in Brazilian higher education institutions. Based on the data and discussions presented, it can be seen that the main challenges in the pedagogical training of teachers for the Accountancy course are mainly related to three specific factors: the recent changes in the profile of the course; the lack of didactic preparation of the teachers currently working; and the relatively low number of stricto sensu postgraduate programmes in the area. The book therefore proposes a reflection on the pedagogical training of the teachers who work on this course, so that future advances can be planned and implemented.
