In a time when generations are changing and a new young generation which did not experience the liberation struggles has a negative impact on Former Liberation Political Parties. This political parties are seeming to becoming irrelevant to the new world order. Their legitimacy and legacy is being threatened by a new globalized world. In developing world, particularly Africa, the political, economic and social environment is founded on the principles of the revolutionary struggles. A nation is built under the history of resistance from oppression by former colonial regimes. Hence most ruling political parties in Africa went from revolutionary parties to government. In this publication, the writer assesses the promises made by the revolutionary parties in the struggle or pre-independence era versus what is on the ground in the post-colonial or independence era. It drives certain challenges which Former Liberation Political Parties, specifically in Southern Africa, are facing and tries to provide solutions to how these political parties can maintain and retain their legacy.
