This study was about challenges of solid waste management in urban areas of Uganda: a case study of Makindye Municipality, KCCA. The study was aimed at examining the municipal solid waste management challenges in Kampala Capital City Authority, with a view to recommending ways of overcoming them. Specific objectives were to identify the type of solid wastes generated in Makindye municipality, to establish the methods of solid waste management in Makindye, to identify the challenges of solid waste management and to come up with suitable remedial action plans to challenges of Municipal waste management. It was a cross-sectional study involving both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods from 200 households and key informants. Data was entered and analyzed using SPSS version 16.0 and was largely presented by means of tables, figures and plates.
