The central question that we have tried to examine here is that with rapidly growing population , which is expected to reach 1.53 billion by 2031, with nearly 60% of them below the age of 25 years, is India prepared to meet the growing aspirations of its citizens. We have divided the issue into five chapters for a more fuller discussion. Nonetheless, it helps us to fathom the dimensions of the immense problem of number of jobseekers entering the labour market and the need to provide skilling and employment opportunities for them. Given the vast dimensions of the problem of skills and employability in India, efforts have been taken by all the stake holders to address the problem.More steps will have to be taken ,particularly in the focus states to increase employment opoortunities through skill development and diversification of the economy of these states.
