As I approached the age of fifty, I felt a sense of unrest. I began to feel, I suppose, an uneasiness about whether I had accomplished or fulfilled my ultimate purpose for being on the earth. I was being plagued by a strong thirst for significance and a desire to make a difference, but not just any difference-a lasting difference. It was not retirement I was thinking about, though that is understandable coming up to the big five-O! I knew it was not a mid-life crisis. I believe, wholeheartedly, God created each of us with a specific assignment, and I have taught the same for years. However, this yearning was more than a need for seeing a goal accomplished or starting a new endeavor. This unrest was tugging at my very soul! No matter what else I pursued, studied, or spent time on, lingering just below a conscious thought was this sense, "there is more." Would there be a change in the earth for better because I am present in this world? A moment of clarity came when my eyes were opened to a verse I have read at least one hundred times before, 36 "For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his father's..." Acts 13:36 - (emphasis added mine)This is when the voice of God thundered in my head, "What you are to accomplish, I want it to outlast your generation!" But what was I to do? What would it look like? And how would I know it was the right thing that would last? The answer came like a freight train one day as I read, 8 "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8That word Justice made every particle of my being awaken. I had no idea what it meant or what it would entail, but I was sure it was what the Lord would require of me for a lasting impact-a legacy if you will. God said to me, "Making a good first impression is important, but making a lasting impression changes lives!"I want to submit to you, the readers of these pages, that I learned not only has our Father and His Son Jesus our King called us all to bring forth justice in the earth, but our true purpose is energized by our embracing the opportunity to establish justice in the earth. The entirety of God's Kingdom is established and upheld by Justice! We, as sons and daughters of God, are to champion justice on the earth. This book is dedicated to revealing and hopefully getting you, the reader, to discover there are Justice Opportunities ordained by God for each of us every day. The problem is we may be totally unaware, distracted, or not even know the heart wrenching desire of God to use each of us as His "Champions of Justice." Which will you be, a giver or receiver of justice? You may be in either role depending on the circumstances. In the coming chapters we will explore examples, parables, situations, and a special writer's deep understanding of this justice mandate. Hopefully, it will challenge you in your thirsts for significance-a significance that will change the world around you and outlast your generation. Each chapter will unfold and reveal more profoundly the extent undertaken by God to ensure justice is dispensed through each of us in our daily encounters. We will also see how Christ approached a couple of rich guys with a justice opportunity and how those encounters give us a glimpse of justice in a new light. At the end of each chapter, I will give you a takeaway, a brief summary of why the chapter was written. Let's begin our journey together.Steffron James, Servant to my King, Justice Advocate, Bible Teacher, and Autho
