Dorien K. Miles's poetry was first published in a Midwest newspaper as part of a fourth grade class project. It was then she decided to be a writer. She wrote poetry during civilian life and a transfer to Washington State, where the couple finished bringing up their six children. Her book of poetry Changing Seasons is being republished as Part I of this new book. Changing Times, Part II, consists of later poetry. She has also published two mystery novels set on the Olympic Peninsula, an historical novel based on the life of her grandfather, and fifty short stories and articles for children and adults. Now a widow, she lives in an apartment complex with views of Mount Rainier to the east and the Olympic Mountains to the west.
