Do you want a practical book on implementing character education? DeRoche and Williams provide school leaders with an effective road map, touring schools that have achieved success. The authors divide the reader's journey through reform efforts into several 'tour stops,' beginning with a review of the character education framework, passing through subjects such as school climate, core values, training personnel, forming relationships, and concluding with guidelines for evaluation. Each 'stop' contains a list of helpful articles or books, as well as valuable Internet resources. The conclusion of the journey is ultimately the responsibility of school leaders, but this book will give you a head start.

Rezensionen
Ed DeRoche and Mary Williams have quickly become front-runners in the field of educational training for character education. This book fills a significant gap in the literature-namely, school leadership for character education. It is a natural outcome of their work in establishing the first graduate degree program in character education, instituting one of the first training academies in character education for school administrators, and publishing a comprehensive primer on character education. This book not only addresses the topic of leadership...but integrates it with their general model. Furthermore, it is extremely comprehensive, includes excellent material on teaching for character education (another neglected area in the field), and provides an impressively extensive set of resources and references. -- Marvin W. Berkowitz, Ph.D., Sanford N. McDonnell Professor of Character Education, University of Missouri, St. Louis
