FRANCIS DARWIN (1848-1925) was the seventh child of Charles Darwin and worked with his father in the study of botany. His book, The Practical Physiology of Plants (1894) was the first of its kind, and The Life and Letters of Charles Darwin (1887) is his best-known work.
