Latia Smith grew up in Long Island, New York. Soon after graduating from high school, she began working as a dental assistant. She continued her education and upon graduating with a BS in Dental Hygiene from UNC Chapel Hill, she returned to her home state, where she continues to provide optimal oral healthcare to members of her community.After publishing her first children's book, Peter's Trip to the Dentist, Smith went on to write another story about the wonderful adventures of pediatric dentistry. Inspired by one of her own patients, the author was able to bring to life the story of a young girl who dreamed of getting braces someday.
