The last season of the hit show opens with the de facto aftermath of season seven's cataclysmic finale episode: "Something Wicca This Way Goes" when the Halliwell manor's basement was essentially blown to bits on live television with numerous police and federal authorities besieging it from the outside of the building during the battle to free the site from the demon Zankou. This occurred when the Charmed Ones were forced to retake the nexus that had fallen to his evil by trickery in one last ditch attempt to defeat him. With Inspector Sheridan killed in the manor's attic on camera by Demon Zankou's energy ball when sent in to investigate; Special Agent Keyes had ordered in the FBI, SFPD's SWAT, Special Forces, and HazMat teams all to the Manor immediately.
