Andre Kelly, Camilla's favourite photographer of houses and treasures, is working on a shoot in the south of France when he stumbles on a curious sight: a Cezanne being removed from a villa and loaded into a local plumber's van. After some preliminary investigations, he starts to uncover a scheme involving an international art fence, a gourmet forger and a former Foreign Legionnaire with violent habits. Teaming up with his agent, Lucy, and sharp-eyed Manhattan art dealer Cyrus Pine, Kelly sets off on a chase through France as the mystery unfolds.
