Rescue dogs deserve second chances. Unfortunately, not all of them are so fortunate. Sofie introduces you to her friends and describes the path that lucky rescue dogs follow: from their arrival in a shelter, to being nurtured by caring foster parents, and finally finding their perfect spot in a forever home. There is a lot to learn for the reader along the way. By reading this book together with your children, you and Sofie educate future responsible dog owners and lead to the savings of more dogs. Sofie is a rescue dog with a quest: when she was lucky enough to be adopted and given a second chance, she knew that she had to help her friends also find their forever homes. Follow along as Sofie introduces you to some amazing dogs and explains how they get to shelters, how they are cared for there, how dogs are placed, and what a perfect home looks like. There are many ways you can support the underdog fight. The majority of the book's sales proceeds will be donated to the dog rescue organization "Last Hope K9 Rescue".
Autorenporträt
Alexandra Bach-Weidmuller is a first-time author with an immense passion for pet rescue and humane education. She grew up in a family of teachers in Germany. Books and education were firm cornerstones of her upbringing, as was a love for animals. From an early age, she was drawn to caring for pets; any pets, including dogs, cats, fish, turtles and tadpoles. Her dog sister, a Dalmatian named Astra, ignited her love and passion for dogs. Alexandra has volunteered in dog rescue for more than 15 years. She has seen firsthand what overfilled shelters and euthanasia look like. She is a volunteer with Last Hope K9 Rescue, a Boston organization that has saved over 10,000 lives since its inception in 2012. When Alexandra and her husband felt they could finally offer a dog sufficient time and attention, they adopted Sofie. Sofie, like many rescue dogs in the US, was born in the South and thanks to rescue organizations, saved and adopted in the Northeast. Sofie transformed their lives. Alexandra is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). She lives in the Boston area with her husband and soul mutt Sofie.
