Medicinal plants are an important source of bioactive substances. The Yemeni flora is very rich in medicinal plants which are used to treat different diseases. In the framework of the valorization of Yemeni medicinal plants, we thought of a phyto-pharmacological study of three medicinal plants namely Tarchonanthus camphorates, Pulicaria jaubertii and Plectranthus montanus Benth. The objectives envisaged are the chemical characterization of the essential oils of the three studied plants and the study of their antibacterial and antioxidant activity. The essential oils are extracted by hydrodistillation and steam distillation. The chemical composition of the essential oils is determined by coupling gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The antibacterial activity is tested against four reference strains using the micro-dilution method on microplate. The antioxidant power is estimated by the capacity of the oils to trap the DPPH radical. Essential oils are rich in phenoliccompounds.
