The development of Armenia's economic base and, consequently, the industrial production, is directly related to the rational use of local raw materials and, first of all, of ore deposits. A way-out of this situation is creating the local metallurgical industry based on local raw materials. The increased interest in metallurgical chromium and pure iron is caused by developing new steels with solution and intermetallic hardening, as well as creating precious alloys with specified physical and mechanical properties. The monograph is devoted to the issues of complex processing of chromium ores of the Sevan deposits and copper smelting slags of the Alaverdi mining and metallurgical combine. The technology is based on the processes of selective chlorination of chromium ores and dump slags with hydrogen chloride and elemental chlorine. In this regard, the investigations carried out,and the results obtained are characterized by novelty and originality of technological solution and can be useful for creating a local technology for processing the local polymetallic ores and wastes to obtain pure and alloyed metal powders.
