This book describes isolation of 12 different polysaccharide fractions from the halophytic plant Salicornia brachiata Roxb. (Chenopodiaceae), which grows abundantly in the saline costal areas of India along the Arabian Sea. These polysaccharides were characterized by monosaccharide composition, glycoside linkage analysis, size-exclusion chromatography, 13C-NMR, FT-IR, circular dichroism and optical rotation data. Physico-chemical analyses of these polysaccharides including uronic acid, sulphate and protein contents were also carried out. This set of data would be useful for isolation and…mehr

This set of data would be useful for isolation and characterization of polysaccharides from this plant genus as well as preparation of polysaccharide based value added chemicals.
