In 1967, Chet Agabiti started cooking in his family's restaurant, on the charcoal grill where his Dad taught him how to cook steak. He learned to determine steak doneness-whether medium, rare, or well-done-simply by touch. His parents were excellent cooks, and Chet learned from their skills from a young age (about 7 or 8 years old). In the '90s, he began writing down recipes to avoid forgetting them. Chet feels some of his recipes are easy, while others are more challenging, but he believes the time, and effort are worthwhile. Today, Chet continues to enjoy cooking for his family and friends, occasionally catering events. He playfully credits his cooking skills for winning his wife's heart, joking that she might not have said "I Do" without his culinary promises.
