There are some linguistic figures of speech that make the ordinary extraordinary. Chiasmus is one of them. It is defined "as the criss- cross placing of sentence members that correspond in either syntax or meaning, with or without word repetition. This book deals with chiasmus as a stylistic device. Chiasmus means the repetition of words or syntactic structures in an inverse order indicating verbal cleverness.
