First compiled in 1975 by Vinnie May Humes as a way to pass on the Chickasaw language and heritage to her grandchildren, Chikasha Holisso Holba is an updated version of the original edition. It features illustrations hand-sketched by the author, Chickasaw vocabulary words, and a glossary for help with pronunciation.

Autor

Born in Coatsworth, Indian Territory, Vinnie May (James) Humes was an original enrollee of the Chickasaw tribe. She enrolled in Wapanucka School at eight with no knowledge of English and received her GED at age 70. She was inducted into the Chickasaw Hall of Fame in 1991.
