The first chapter provides an introduction to child counselling; the second chapter discusses child development focusing on the five stages of a child's life, attachment theory and moral theory; and the third chapter explains generic abuses of children in the context of family environment, myths and misconceptions, types of abuse, and consequences of child abuse. The fourth chapter explores psychosocial issues in some selected disease conditions that affect children under five years of age; the fifth chapter contextualizes child counselling practice with particular focus on communicating with children, problem situations for children,and counselling interventions; and the sixth chapter discusses the social context of counselling focusing on the self-concept, social attitudes and social prejudice.
