Child dental fear is one of the behavior guidance problems that dentists face in practice and has been linked to poor dental health. The Children's Fear Survey Schedule-Dental Subscale (CFSS-DS) is the most commonly scale used to assess child dental fear. Many factors such as age and gender can affect the child dental fear. Some studies invite parents to rate their children's fear while children self-reported their own fear in others. There is some controversy about the accuracy of parental ratings of child dental fear. This book reports comparison of child and parental ratings of child dental fear and assessment of child and parent characteristics on the ratings. The full version and the 6-item short version of CFSS-DS were used to assess child dental fear by children and parents pairs. It also shed the light on various fear assessment scales. This assessment should be useful for pediatric dentists, researchers and anyone interested in child dental fear.
