Embry arrives in Eternity without being given the chance to live, and her biggest question is why. Her quest to learn the answer and to understand how her parents arrived at such a decision overrides the perfection of living in the Southern section of Paradise. All other Souls around her pursue their interests, creating and learning in a near-perfect environment. Though she tries to accept the wisdom of her relatives, a talking wolf, and even Creator, she harbors the self-doubt we all feel when thoughts of unworthiness override reality. Then there's Alice. When she sees Embry, she recognizes her Earth-boyfriend's face, reminding her of his unfaithful dalliance with Kamuy. Is Embry their lovechild? Alice seeks revenge on Embry, sending her through a portal to the unsavory North section of Paradise, where Souls are learning what they failed to on Earth. Embry seeks help from the Dragons living in the West to open a magic portal back to the South, but they can only bring her to the section in which they live, so Embry finds herself in yet another predicament. The further away she gets from Earth, the more apparent it becomes that she needs to go back. She must get answers. Will she find them when she is allowed to return to Earth?

Patty Renfro-Wonderly enjoyed twenty-five years teaching fifth-grade gifted students before she retired. During her tenure, she was a mentor, curriculum writer, and reviewer, conducted numerous in-services and trainings, and organized special events for the school district. She has written several one-act plays produced for local theater in Bakersfield, California. Her play "So Damned Heavenly Bound" was produced in Hollywood at The Elephant Theater in 2008. She is a founding member of "The Random Writers Workshop", taught writing workshops and participated in critique groups while she learned the craft of creative writing. When not working on her stories at her small Ikea desk in her home library, she enjoys reading, painting, and hiking the easy trails of the Pacific Northwest with her husband Peter and two small terriers, Tory and Zoey. They sometimes take their tortoiseshell cat, Fiona, with them on hikes in her specially designed backpack. Patty Renfro-Wonderly has become increasingly politically active in recent years and their move to Vancouver, Washington allows her to attend activities easily. She loves to go to the latest movies, read the latest books and is active volunteering with the local theater as props manager. She is a Gryffindor, a Doctor WHO fan, and loves to cosplay when attending Rose City Comic-Con.
