Asthma, a heterogeneous and multifactorial pathology due to chronic inflammation of the bronchi, constitutes the most common chronic respiratory pathology in pediatrics. In our study, asthma was controlled in 36% of cases. However, during the last year of follow-up, almost half of the patients (n=23) were admitted for an asthma attack, 13 of whom were transferred to the intensive care unit. Asthmatic children who had poor medication compliance were the most hospitalized for asthma attacks (p= 10-3) and had a greater risk of being hospitalized in an intensive care unit (p= 10-3).The knowledge of mothers and caregivers was insufficient, hence the importance of increasing the number of educational sessions and strengthening ongoing training for caregivers.
