Childhood in Mali (between Protection and Abandonment) is a real adventure that every social worker is confronted with one day. To want to be able to do so is not enough to understand the complexity of social intervention, its implications and the coordination of the different means to be implemented which complicates the task. The mission is not impossible, but the field of social protection, particularly that of the child, is a work of priesthood. The realization of this work is inspired by an experience acquired during ten years spent at the State Nursery of Bamako. It retraces the care model in certain Malian communities, their cultural and religious interpretations in the face of globalization, takes a look at the monotheistic vision of the family, urbanization and finally proposes a community-based care model to avoid cases of abandonment of children by our communities while recalling the need for collaboration between the different actors of child protection for the happiness of Malian children.
