Dr Hamid Soori holds a doctorate in Epidemiology, a master's degree in public health from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, and MPH degree from University of Tehran Medical Sciences, Iran. During his career Dr Soori published 32 books and approximately 350 scientific articles. He also established the department of Epidemiology in Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran in 2003 and supervised tens of MSc and PhD students. He retired in 2018 and continued his activities as an Emeritus Professor at Cyprus International University. He has worked in various places such as the Ministry of Health, several medical universities, as well as the World Health Organization as an injury prevention consultant. He is a member of several national and international scientific associations such as the International Epidemiological Association, Injury Prevention Research Network, International Academy of Public Health, Iranian Epidemiological Association and Society for Social Medicine.
