The research had the objective of characterizing the family educational context of children witnesses of domestic violence at the Hospital de Clínicas in 2020. It was based on a qualitative, descriptive and cross-sectional approach. The research technique used for data collection was virtual in-depth interviews with women victims of domestic violence. The results showed that there is an environment where domestic violence is reproduced, showing that the women interviewed had a history of having lived this situation since childhood. Although dialogue was considered the best educational mechanism, they did not deny having used some type of physical and psychological punishment as a disciplinary mechanism. Among those punishments used, practices of patriarchal culture of subjugation of women were observed, the naturalization of the cultural scheme where the male has social privileges. Evasion of paternal responsibilities after a separation was also observed.
