This book is about children living in urban areas, in Dhaka City. Due to increased population and urbanization, parks and recreational spaces are squeezing day by day in Dhaka and the ongoing development is more focused on the benefit of adults than children. After 20 years of adoption of Convention on the Right for Children by UN which secured children s right to get special needs, the condition has not been improved as expected. Children, a significant amount of urban population have not been prioritized in providing parks and recreational space, are evident not using public parks as well as neighborhood parks. This book identified the possible reasons that limit children to use neighborhood parks. The Research discovered, neighborhood parks are not designed and delivered accordance to all age group of children and their needs. Several factors related to physical environment are putting children off from frequent use of parks. Absence of children centered policy and understanding their actual need by professionals in decision making or designing phase are another reasons. This book can help to create more children friendly places outdoor room by built environment professionals.

Samia Sharmin has graduated in Urban Design from University of Salford,UK in 2012. Prior to that, she completed PGC in Sustainable Urban and Regional Planning from Murdoch University, Australia and B.Arch from BUET. Presently she is a faculty of Dept. of Architecture in State University, Bangladesh & prefers to work on sustainable built environment
