Marcus Braybrooke is an Anglican priest, an interfaith activist and author. He is Joint President of the World Congress of Faiths, Co-Founder of the Three Faiths Forum and a Peace Councillor Beacons of Light is his most recent book. It describes the life and teaching of one hundred holy people who have shaped the spiritual history of the world. He includes members of many religions and countries: some well-known, such as Zoroaster, the Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, and Rumi: others such as Rabia, Julian of Norwich, Ba'al Shem Tov or Tulsidas deserve to be better known. He shows how mystics come together in emphasising the love of God and in calling for peace, an end to poverty and reverence for the natural world. This is an inspiring book and should be in every school and college library. Marcus Braybrooke has written fifty books - many available as e-books - They include Christianity: An Explorer's Guide; Islam: A Christian Approach; Hinduism: A Christian Approach; Christians and Jews: Building Bridges; Meeting Jews and Widening Vision: the World Congress of Faiths and the Growing Interfaith Movement. Some books are on the spiritual life: Learn to Pray, 365 Meditations for a Peaceful Heart and a Peaceful World. He has also edited several anthologies of prayers and meditations, including 1,000 World Prayers, Bridge of Stars, Life Lines. Revd Dr Marcus Braybrooke was awarded a Lambeth Doctorate of Divinity by the Archbishop of Canterbury 'for his contribution to inter-religious co-operation and understanding throughout the world.' In September 2004. He has also received the Sir Sigmund Sternberg Interfaith Gold Medallion, the Kashi Ashram Lifetime Achievement Award and the Sri Ramanuja Mission Trust Lifetime Achievement Award. Marcus is married to Mary, a Vice-President of the World Congress of Faiths, a retired social worker and a magistrate. They have two children, six grand-daughters and a poodle called Toffee.
