Alif Yah'ya, born Oliver Christi Oates, is the twelfth child of John and Alice Oates. He graduated from Sterling High School in Sheffield, Alabama, before pursuing higher education at La Salle University and the Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.Driven by a profound commitment to social justice, Alif's inspiration for his work, Children of the Sun, stems from the urgent need to address the often-overlooked realities of slavery. He believes that the horrific conditions faced by enslaved individuals and the tragic legacy of their experiences deserve greater recognition and discussion.
