In the provision of care and support for all children, there are national (UK) and international (United Nations) guidelines laid down not only in achieving the five outcomes outlined in Every Child Matters document but also in achieving equality and human rights of every child enshrined in the United Convention for the Rights of the Child. This research will seek to explore to what extent these guidelines have made an impact in ensuring that the quality of care provided to CLA is in line with the provisions of these guidelines. In doing a critical analysis of the quality of care provided to CLA, the four P's will be employed as tools of analysis. That is, participation, protection, prevention, and provision as covered by the Child Rights Convention (CRC). The aim of using the four P's as tools of analysis is to show their relevance and importance in the provision of high quality of care and support to CLA.
