Sin Yi Cheung taught at Oxford Brookes University before taking up a senior lectureship in Sociology at University of Birmingham, UK. Her research interests are in the areas of social stratification, sociology of education and social inequalities, with a specific focus on ethnic minorities in western countries and in comparative research. Her most recent work, Unequal Chances: Ethnic Minorities in Western Labour Markets (British Academy and Oxford University Press, 2007), was a comparative study co-led with Professor Anthony Heath at University of Oxford.
