This book is the first of the series - Chinese Shipping Financial Law Review, which is an audacious attempt to make an annual presentation to the professional readers worldwide a group of delicately selected articles concerning shipping financial law in the jurisdiction of the Mainland of the People's Republic of China. China controls the largest merchant fleet in this planet and occupies a substantive share of global market of shipping finance. However, the laws of China occasionally appear to be unable to embrace the rapid growth of economy and emerging requirements of market participants. To fill in the gaps, hundreds of academicians and practitioners write articles to narrate the current status of law, elaborate the evolving business models, analyze the mismatching between law and practice and propose the plausible resolutions to enhance the adaptability of law towards the ever-changing market. Those articles are great contributions to further development of Chinese shipping financial law, and deserve the attention from professionals all over the world. Thus, this book selects about 30 articles published in or around the year of 2019, which are concerned with the five most essential areas of shipping financial law: ship finance, shipbuilding contract and guarantee, shipping insurance, shipping derivatives and court and arbitration procedures. Through the presentation of those articles, we invite all the people who have any interest in the field of shipping finance law to embark on this common platform to exchange views, sources and ideas.
