Vernon Christopher "Chris" Carter (born December 18, 1986 in Redwood City, California) is a professional baseball player for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball. Carter attended Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas before entering the professional ranks, winning the NIAA Class 4A state championship in 2005. Carter was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 15th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft. Carter began his professional career with the Short-Season Bristol White Sox in 2005.
