Christian-Muslim relations in Nigeria, and in the world at large have been such that is characterized with mutual suspicion, mistrust and distrust. Hence, the constant and unnecessary confrontations that often find expression between the adherents of the two theistic religions at any slightest provocation. This work sheds more light on some of the factors that are responsible for constant confrontations despite the claim of practicing a religion that is peaceful in nature. The concept of peace that does not cut across religious boundaries, religious polemics, poverty, manipulation of religion among others are considered as part of the factors militating against the principles of religious tolerance and understanding among Christians and Muslims in Nigeria. Thus, debarring peaceful co-existence in the society.
