"Christianese" makes plain the noteworthy words used by those who believe in Jesus (Christians). Christian words often stand apart in their definitions from conventional use of the same words. Written in a friendly manner, "Christianese" gives life to 285 words, in a style somewhere between an encyclopedia and a novel. Encyclopedias are too detail-filled to be read cover-to-cover. A novel is read cover-to-cover because it is captivating, leading the reader into a different reality. "Christianese" is meant to have enough detail to give directions into the different reality of faith in Jesus and remain interesting enough to be read cover-to-cover. "Christianese" is not written from any particular denominational stance. Being objective and unbiased in the definition of each word was the goal, often presenting both sides of a viewpoint when there is disagreement among Christians. It is therefore readable from any background, and illuminating to the reader no matter what the reader's religious standpoint.
Autorenporträt
Author Dan Lemaire became fascinated with Jesus when at 10 years old he read "The Robe," a fictional story of what might have happened to Jesus' robe which was taken by a Roman soldier in a gambling game as Jesus died on the cross. That book presented more questions than answers and at age 29, when Dan entered into the Christian faith in a serious way, he began working for an ever-deeper understanding of this Jesus and the world-changing movement He started. Dan believes that the Christian church is continuing the assignment that Jesus began when He was on earth. That assignment is to see the whole earth filled with the recognition of God, the goodness of God, and the sovereignty of God. Dan sees "Christianese" as helpful for converts or seekers of any age or from any background, and for anyone interested in learning more about the faith expressed by Christians. Understanding the words is essential. Dan has served as a Pastor and has also been a carpenter and a draftsman, and now works as a Marriage and Family Therapist. He is active in his church, leading study groups and Sunday school. He has been married to Georgann for 39 years and they have five sons, three daughters-in-law, and seven really grand grandchildren.
