Many people have trouble understanding Christianity. The explanations it gives of itself are encoded in metaphor and symbolism and locked into archaic language in which everything turns out to mean something else. This essay describes the Christian faith using straightforward language and concrete terms that keep the mystical and symbolic to a minimum. Two types of readers may find this booklet helpful. First, there are potential believers who have found themselves attracted to Christianity but repelled by what seems like the requirement that they accept absurdities. The second group consists of non-believers who want to view Christianity and their Christian friends fairly, but who find the whole business so nonsensical that they can't take it seriously. Both of these groups should find the explanation given here to be more coherent and comprehensible than they have encountered elsewhere.
