Chronobiology is the science of biological rhythms. It is constantly expanding its areas of application in the medical field, despite the fact that it has not yet been fully integrated into everyday practice. The aim of our study was to compare the results of empirical and chronobiological glycemic control in type 1 diabetics at the Marc Sankalé Center (Dakar).A prospective, cross-sectional study was conducted over a 6-month period. It included type 1 diabetic patients being monitored and educated in insulin therapy. A survey form was used to assess capillary blood glucose values, control times and insulin dose injected. The first step was for the patient to record his or her daily fasting capillary blood glucose at his or her usual blood glucose control times over a one-month period. Then, this same control was carried out according to a chronobiological rhythm, i.e. between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. (the time interval when the acrophase of the glycemic rhythm occurs).
