Chuck Close shows faces. They are of friends, that is at least people personally aquainted with him; some are very prominent. He paints the finest details of the physiognomy exclusively from photos on enormous screens. He has developed his portrait painting through the use of the flawless techniques of airbrush, finger painting, water colors and oil painting. This volume depicts the development of 25 years through 40 of his works.
