Produktbeschreibung
"Citizens of the Cosmos is the first book to survey the artist's filmic output informed by Cosmism. Cosmism is a set of theories and projects--philosophical, artistic, scientific--drawing from discourses of Orthodox Christianity, Enlightenment thinking, Eastern philosophy, and Marxism, and advancing conceptions of technological immortality, resurrection, space travel, and interplanetarism. Vidokle's films use Cosmist ideas and themes as a lens to explore biopolitics, revolution, nutrition, utopia, museology, and beyond. The book features the scripts of Vidokle's films, some never published before and all reworked for this occasion, and several essays and conversations with Vidokle, most newly commissioned and the rest now made available in English for the first time. Authors include the theorists, artists, and curators Franco 'Bifo' Berardi, Keti Chukhrov, Liam Gillick, Boris Groys, Daniel Muzyczuk, Miguel Amado and Georgia Perkins, Raqs Media Collective, and Elizabeth A. Povinelli. Together, the texts presented here consider key Cosmist questions and provide a critical overview of Vidokle's films."--Cover page 4.
