He is one of the leading figures of Swedish and international science in various fields (see his selected papers and books below) including nanomaterials; green nanotechnology; materials for solar energy utilization and energy efficiency (solar cells, solar collectors, energy efficient fenestration), electrochromic materials (smart windows); biomimetics; photocatalitic materials (air and water cleaning); materials for radiative cooling and superconductivity; fluctuation-enhanced sensing; etc. In August 2011, Science Citation Index shows that his h-index is 54; the number of citations to his papers is 14214.
