The still massive use of fossil fuel vehicles and the consequent increase in greenhouse gases and pollutants has a huge impact on the environment and citizens' health. These vehicles have the potential to affect not only the environment through which they travel, but can affect the climate on a global scale. In order to mitigate the effects that the technology of explosion engines imposes, the transportation sector has invested in new technologies to improve the efficiency of the system as a whole, in the production of more efficient and less polluting engines and in raising the awareness of drivers to practice safer and more environmentally friendly driving. Based on the reality of transportation systems in large urban centers, a solution is presented to evaluate and classify the behavioral profile of drivers through the combined use of sensors embedded in motor vehicles and smartphones. Information about fuel consumption, vehicle speed and emission of pollutants and greenhouse gases are obtained from the vehicle sensors through an OBD(On Board Diagnotic) interface.
