Conventional Production Approach is no longer feasible to deal with the emerging environmental challenges. As a result, many industries in developing and developed countries are shifting towards the Clean Production Approach. This book therefore provides an insight into this emerging approach by identifying Clean Production(CP) opportunities in the Belize Sugar Industry(BSI). The Two major environmental challenges that are forcing BSI to shift from Conventional Production to CP are: a growing awareness of the impacts of pollution on the New River and the abolition of its preferential markets. In order for the factory to remain as a cost competitive supplier in the new market environment and deal with its national environmental problems, this book suggests the integration of the concept of CP in the factory s facilities. The implementation of the CP opportunities identified will increase the factory s level of competitiveness and reduce its environmental impact. This study on CP is practical for professionals in the environmental field and industrial managers, who are seeking to comply with stringent regulations, to reduce environmental impact and to remain cost competitive.
