Autorenporträt
Bill Harriman is Director of Firearms at the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). Before joining the Association in 1991 he worked in Birmingham for a firm of auctioneers specialising in guns, arms and armour. From 1974 to 1991 he served in the Territorial Army (Royal Artillery and Royal Yeomanry), retiring with the rank of Captain. He is one of a team of arms and militaria specialists for the BBC TV programme Antiques Roadshow since 1985. He is also a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London and an honorary historical adviser to the Royal Armouries. He is also President of the Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain. He is a professional member of the Chartered Society for Forensic Science and gives evidence in court on ballistic issues. Bill collects infantry rifles (1830-1918), their ammunition and accessories. He also enjoys rough shooting, particularly with a muzzle loader. Outside of shooting Bill enjoys real ale, opera, painting model soldiers and playing snooker.
