Along with Jakob Degen (1511-1587), he is considered the most important Protestant metaphysician, establishing the Protestant Reformed Neuscholastik. Timpler was born in Stolpen. In 1600 he joined Bartholomew Keckermann studying philosophy at Leipzig.
