This book provides a comprehensive view of climate change and its interactions with the Indian forests. Carbon inventory, mitigation potential, impacts of projected climate change on forest ecosystems and vulnerabilities associated with these impacts - all these aspects of Interaction are comprehensively examined in this book. In chapter two, we present a detailed review of carbon inventory in Indian forests. In chapter three, policy relevant mitigation potential of Indian forests is presented. Chapter four aims to assess the impact of climate change on Indian forests by using a dynamic global…mehr

Chapter four aims to assess the impact of climate change on Indian forests by using a dynamic global vegetation model (DGVM) and climate projections from Hadley centre's regional climate model. Chapter 5, projects the impact of climate change on future mitigation potential, it also provides a comprehensive vulnerability Index for the Indian forests, by combining the existing vulnerabilities such as forest fragmentation, biodiversity loss etc with the projected vulnerabilities arising from the impacts of climate change. This book will certainly be very useful to students, teachers, researchers and foresters interested in climate change and forestry research, especially in the Indian context
