Produktbeschreibung
This book examine the effect of climate change on small scale agricultural production and food security in Kitui County in Kenya. Kitui County is a semi-arid region where the effect of the changing climate has adversely affected household food production and security. The temperatures are increasing while the amount of rainfall received is declining. The rainfall has also become very unpredictable and unreliable leading to large scale crop failure. The farmers are unable to adapt to the changing climate due to financial constraints, leading to most of the households being food insecure through out the year. Lack of permanent rivers in the region is another factor that has made it difficult for farmers to employ irrigation in their farming practices.
