Rajni Gautam est titulaire d'un doctorat, d'une maîtrise et d'une licence en électronique de l'université de Delhi (Inde), obtenus respectivement en 2014, 2009 et 2007. Elle a publié 16 articles dans des revues internationales de renom, 15 articles dans des conférences internationales, 6 chapitres de livres, 4 livres et un brevet. Son nombre total de citations est de 389 avec un h-index de 10.
